So for those of you who didn’t know, I am currently in Chuncheon South Korea visiting my Grandparents before I head off to New Zealand for my grand backpacking adventure. The last couple days have been very cold here and a nice blanket of snow has fallen upon our little city, nestled away between the jagged mountains that define the landscape of Gwang-do province.
The other day my sister and I found a tiny patch of farmland that was flooded with water and subsequently frozen to create an outdoor ice rink. To our surprise, no one was on it except an aged couple walking their “Polar-bear dog.” My time here in Korea has truly been relaxing with ample time to catch up on some much needed reading. Spending time here with my family in my ancestral homeland has reminded me that one’s soul can never be divorced from it’s past, no matter how foreign it has become.
